Before you start breeding fish you are going to need to pick what kind to breed. I chose guppies because they are very cheap to get started, but can get fairly rare once you are a better breeder and have the money to buy some. I say start cheap because you will probably kill a lot in your time and I have made that mistake and lost 2 fish that were $50 each in the first week.
Once you have chosen the fish you want to breed you are going to need a fish tank and food for them before they arrive. I recommend starting with a 5-10 gallon tank.
After your fish tank is set up and has been running for at least a week then you can start looking for some fish. You can either do this via online or by going to your local pet shop. ONLY GO TO PETCO OR PETSMART FOR FOOD OR PRACTICE FISH. I can’t stress it enough that their fish are cheap, easy to get, and simple. But remember we are looking for stuff that people can’t just get by going to a big brand name.
Once you have bought some decent looking fish or that you can’t find in PetSmart then you make sure that you have food, a setup tank, and a fish net.
So now that your fish have just arrived or you got them back to the house; make sure to place them in the tank to Acclimate to the temperature. After about 15 minutes you can release your fish into the tank.
Now, just watch them and feed once a day. In about 35 days you should have some babies. The batch of fry is usually small at first but you will gain more per batch as she gets older.
I recommend setting up an eBay account so you can sell your fish to the entire country. I wouldn’t do international until you have 5+ years. I still don’t because of the amount of stress. Remember that these are living animals in water. There is a lot that can and will go wrong in your lifetime breeding. So just start with the country, Trust me there are a lot of people looking for fish.
Trust is huge and you need to make sure to build it over time to avoid losing any potential buyers in your future. Make sure to watch lots of videos about it and always remember to have fun with it.
